ABOUT ME |
Born to be a Word Smith
Since moving to California in 2013, I've worked as a writer for double Emmy Award-winning screenwriter, Simon Moore (Traffic, The Quick and the Dead), on his project "This Is the Frequency" and I re-wrote dialog with Director James P. Lay (Fight Club, Jeepers Creepers, Meet Joe Black) on an exciting TV show pilot called Voodoo Kitchen in 2015. I've worked with Kevin Hernandez (Get the Gringo, The Sitter) as a producer and head costumer for the pilot, Young Adult. Summer 2016 found me working as a screenwriter and actor in PinkCity alongside Kether Donohue (You're the Worst, Grease Live!, Pitch Perfect.)
I've been a featured artist at Beyond Baroque in Venice, SoHo in Santa Barbara, T.U. Studios in North Hollywood, E.P. Foster Library in Ventura, The Emerging Poets Series in Ventura, the Ojai Art Center in Ojai, Ca., and Healthy Rhythm Art Gallery in Montrose, Weller Book Works in Salt Lake City, and most recently, for LITCRAWL with Women's Voices Now in 2017. My screenplay Missing Lunch, was commissioned by Producer Andy Samarasena. I also cowrote the award-winning short Inside the Grace, directed by Aleksandar Adzic. I assisted with the inception and development of several commercial projects with Skrein Productions in Los Angeles including commercials for: Leica, Redbull, and Fiat. I wrote the script The Hunt and Red Bull Gives Wings in addition to a few other commercial projects. I also held positions as Unit Production Manager and Costumer for Skrein Productions on The Hunt. My news and feature articles have appeared in: The Acorn Newspapers of Simi Valley and Camarillo, The VCReporter, and Dig In Magazine. My poetry has appeared in: Sow's Ear Poetry Review, A! Magazine for the Arts, Sketches of Home, Ventura Arts Council's Emerging Artists Series, Askew Poetry Journal, Aspen Daily News, Spectrum, The Los Angeles Poet Society's website, Lavender Review and LA's Cultural Weekly. I love teaching creative poetry-writing workshops to local middle and high schoolers in Ventura County through California Poets in the Schools, one of the oldest and most established writer-in-residency programs in the country! The summer of 2016 had me learning a new skill as the publisher and editor of a new student anthology called Tasty Little Samples. This book features 70 of over 350 students that I had the pleasure of teaching during creative workshops at Balboa Middle School and Buena High School in Ventura, California. In the Spring of 2017, I taught storytelling workshops at Ventura Charter School through Children's Celebration of the Arts. In 2017, I completed a tour promoting my first book of poetry, Art Triumphant and have performed and sold books at over a dozen venues in six states including Oregon, Utah, Colorado, Idaho, California, and New Hampshire. In 2018, I wrote and directed a fantasy/thriller, Love Spell featuring Ischa Bee, Dale McKeel, and Stephen Harr. Love Spell is an award-winning film. In 2018, I became Co-Host of the Emmy Award-Winning show Talking Pictures with Tony Toscano in Salt Lake City. I've been a movie critic for about 2 years now and I'm loving every minute of it! For Sundance 2019, I joined Founder, Publisher and Editor-in-Chief Cindy Maram on the red carpet. Celebrities interviewed include: Justin Chon, Tiffany Chu, Awkwafina, Alice Waddington, Milla Jovovich, Danielle Macdonald, Eiza González, Emma Roberts, Kate Krieger, among others. |
